Well, I hate to say that but that book is really not what I expected after all the bright reviews here.I can imagine what the author meant it to be. A story of an utterly beautiful girl, who, even after being raped at the young age by her stepbrother, and all in all despite her difficult childhood, found someone she trusted with her life, well even too much sometimes; and a man, who was orphaned as a child, and grew up to be a spy, never trusting anyone, a skilled assassin... well, just too careless to my taste. And it's like they are the best drug to each other, him trying but failing not to get attached to her, and her, obediently embracing her love for him, his looks, air of danger and ridiculous amount of money only adding to that I guess (though she says she'd love him anyway). Well, we'll never know.
Now to make it short, I'll tell you why I didn't like it.
- The heroine. Did she just have to be so absolutely blond and stupid, such a girly girl? Okay, may just not be my type. It's not big secret women associate themselves with the heroins in the books, so they cannot tear themselves from the series, unable to leave their heroine and her fate even for a moment. So I like it when women have inner strength, some power which they learn and possess as a plot unfolds, something special about them. A Barbie-type girl who loves to dress well an falls head over heals for the gorgeous dangerous spy (who almost gets her killed couple of times by the way)? Come on. Take away the looks and that's almost anyone.
- Coming by a man's hand in the middle of the street? Seriously? Sorry, I might just be a bit envious )) but... seriously?!
- How stupid and outwardly careless can can a spy be? Want to know? Just read the book.
- Too many murder and torture scenes to my taste.
- The plot is kind of edgy. It feels like the author tried to make a flawless necklace with beads of varying size and colour without anyone noticing. Well, I did notice. Endless ups and downs, dangerous situations that are there only because the heroes are too stupid to avoid them, too fat-fetched, sorry.
So, while I might be mildly interested in Ivy's future, I'm sure she'll do alright without me reading the rest of the series.
I hope that will help you )

In His Shadow Tangled Ivy Book 1 edition by Tiffany Snow Romance eBooks Reviews
I really enjoyed reading Tiffany Snow's Kathleen Turner series so I was excited to read this book. I'm sad to say that this was not the book I was hoping it would be.
First-- I felt like I was reading about Kathleen Turner all over again. The heroine Ivy was a carbon copy of Kathleen, excluding Kathleen's ample bosom, Ivy was blonde, beautiful, innocent and.......well, dumb when it came to beautiful, dangerous, arrogant men. At first, I liked the way Ivy wasn't intimidated by Devon, or at least she didn't let on that she was. She acted confident and smart until Devon started toying with her sexually--which happened pretty quickly in this book. I hate how women are dumbed down and turn pathetic when it comes to a beautiful man paying attention to them. At first she hated him and didn't give him the time of day for months and then one day he comes into her work and says her name and she loses all sense and control. After that I was just embarrassed for her. I didn't like how fast the relationship happened. I don't understand why she wanted him so much. The relationship didn't have time to develop, it went straight to sex and even that wasn't great. Personally, I don't like that authors go into great detail about the sex. I don't need to know how big the guys junk is or the dirty talk during sex. My preference on sex scenes is not to have everything explained from start to finish..... anyhow, moving on. Ivy is always getting herself into trouble by not thinking and being stupid. Deja Vu with the Kathleen Turner series.
Second-- Flat story and boring plot. It wasn't realistic and there were way too many convenient moments that Ivy should have been killed and for some miraculous reason isn't. Devon just happens by accident to be there to rescue her every time she finds herself in trouble....which by the way is a lot. It gets old.
and Lastly..... Devon and Ivy just don't click. He tells her they can't be together because he doesn't believe in love and forever, but then he continues to use her and have sex with her because .... well, because she lets him. She can't resist him and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Besides being good looking unbelievably so, there is no other reason she gives that she can't resist his tempting advances toward her. Been There Read That over and over agin in the last series, and I don't want to read it again with different characters.
